ABOUT

Carl Bower is a Pulitzer finalist whose documentary work has been featured in The New York Times, The Sunday Times Magazine of London, and galleries in New York, Seattle, and Washington DC.

He approaches weddings with a quiet presence and an eye for authenticity. In practice, this entails moving with a calm demeanor and a desire to remain unnoticed, finding small moments of intimacy in the midst of public celebrations. He anticipates and documents moments as they naturally occur, with direction or interference. His ultimate goal is a highly personal book that is both beautiful and meaningful, recognizing that authenticity is integral to that meaning.

His portraits are made in a similar vein, and while sessions are more collaborative than candid, the desire to make images that are true to the individual is a constant throughout his work.

His wedding work has won numerous awards from the WPJA and ISPWP, has been featured in Brides and has been a consistent favorite of Washingtonian Magazine, Wedding Wire, and the Knot.

Carl recently moved to Denver from Washington DC and serves clients nationwide.
